The skating track is one of the infrastructures being built to host the competitions of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. It features a 240-meter-long and 6.00-meter-wide track, additionally incorporating a 0.50-meter safety zone, and has been designed to facilitate the development of sports activities and other events. The track will receive specialized paving for speed skating, using a CLASS 1 certified material approved by World Skate, the international governing body of the sport. This surface guarantees the optimal safety, performance, and quality conditions required for international competitions. The track is surrounded by a protective barrier along its entire 240-meter perimeter, constructed with galvanized steel tubes anchored to the perimeter sidewalk. The facility includes grandstands with a seating capacity of 460 spectators, as well as designated spaces for people with disabilities. The stands also include service areas such as a shop, restrooms, male and female athlete locker rooms, an electrical room housing the complex’s panels and control systems, a storage room, and an administrative office. The complex includes approximately 920 square meters of sidewalks, allowing safe circulation to the track, grandstands, and the various service areas of the skating facility. The project also includes five 40-foot-high electrical poles equipped with 8,000-watt lighting fixtures. This project represents a significant contribution to the area’s sports infrastructure, providing a modern, safe, and functional space for the development of speed skating and the hosting of high-level events.
